Navin Thadani Talks Latest Funding
Money Makes the World Go ‘Round
Evinced Secures $55 Million in Series C Funding to Drive AI-Driven Accessibility
Money makes the world go ’round. It makes startups go ’round too.
Navin Thadani, co-founder and CEO of web accessibility company Evinced, believes that the age of AI is a golden opportunity for his company to capitalize on the trend. In an interview with me this week, Thadani said, "We have the funds to take advantage of the age of AI. Tech trends are in the right direction, and this funding helps us capitalize on the age of AI. We are a pioneer in AI and accessibility. This money will add to our substantial lead here."
Evinced’s Fundraising Efforts
My reconnection with Thadani comes as Evinced announces it has secured $55 million in Series C funding to further drive its global lead in AI-driven accessibility. The new round was led by Insight Partners and participating venture capital firms, bringing Evinced’s total funds raised to $112 million.
Digital Accessibility: A Growing Concern
Thadani emphasized that companies, regardless of industry, "can’t afford to ignore digital accessibility anymore." He pointed out that legal developments in the United States have "finally coalesced," and the internet is considered a public accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The European Accessibility Act will start fining companies who fail to comply with worldwide standards for accessibility in the WCAG guidelines in June.
Software-Based Approach to Accessibility
A software-based approach is essential, according to Thadani. He noted that trying to manually detect every bug is too hard and too late in the process to be useful. "It’s too hard because it’s not uncommon for websites to have tens of thousands of critical accessibility issues, and simply documenting them alone would take weeks or even months," he said.
Future Plans and Developments
When asked what Evinced plans to do with its newfound funds, Thadani said the company will put the money towards expanding research and development, as well as growing its global sales and customer service groups. He added that new products will be introduced alongside improvements made to existing ones.
Conclusion
Evinced’s latest funding round is a testament to the company’s commitment to driving AI-driven accessibility. With its substantial lead in the market, Evinced is poised to continue making a significant impact in the industry. As Thadani said, "Tech trends are really lining up with our efforts to extend inclusion on a daily basis."
