CNN Introduces New Streaming Subscription Service
CNN, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has announced the launch of its “All Access” subscription service, set to debut in the US on October 28. This new plan will offer a centralized hub for CNN’s journalism, featuring live and on-demand video programming from the US and around the world, as well as access to CNN.com articles and exclusive content for subscribers across all platforms.
The All Access subscription will be available for $6.99 per month or $69.99 annually. To incentivize early adoption, CNN is offering a limited-time annual subscription for $41.99 to those who sign up by January 5. According to Alex MacCallum, executive vice president of digital products and services at CNN Worldwide, “This is an essential step in CNN’s evolution, providing a comprehensive experience that meets how audiences consume news today.”
Building on Existing Services
The All Access plan builds upon CNN’s existing digital subscription, now rebranded as the Basic tier. The Basic plan, launched in 2024, includes unlimited access to CNN articles and select subscriber features but does not include video content. This new development marks CNN’s latest attempt at a full-service streaming subscription, following the short-lived CNN+ service, which was cancelled just a month after its launch in March 2022 due to disappointing subscription numbers and internal challenges.
CNN’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, is undergoing significant changes, having announced plans to split into two public companies by 2026. The streaming and studios company will include movie properties and HBO Max, while a global networks company will comprise CNN and other businesses. Meanwhile, Paramount Skydance is reportedly considering a takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery prior to a possible spin.

CNN’s introduction of the All Access subscription service reflects the evolving nature of news consumption. As audiences increasingly seek comprehensive and convenient access to news content, CNN aims to provide a centralized platform that meets these demands. With its new subscription service, CNN is poised to strengthen its position in the digital landscape and provide users with a unique and engaging experience.
